More New Homes Planned for 30th and Powell

Plans for new family housing at SE 30th and Powell are expanding to create  more affordable homes. In 2018, we announced plans to replace the Safari Club in SE Portland with 160 – 180 units of housing focused on serving families and Communities of Color. Another 1.3 acres of land recently acquired next to the development site will allow the project to include 30 additional units, as well as an outdoor space, surface parking for residents, and increased potential for future development.

The project is now expected to provide 210 units of permanently affordable housing, including 63 units with two or more bedrooms for families, 70 units of deeply affordable housing (at or below 30% of the Area Median Income), and 30 units of Supportive Housing. In total, the project will provide homes for an estimated 362 people in the Creston-Kenilworth neighborhood, where future residents will enjoy easy access to nearby schools, transportation, economic opportunity, green spaces, and other community amenities and resources to help them thrive. Construction is expected to begin next year.
